We asked Kurt & Michael how they felt last season went, about the World Championships and the forthcoming season ahead.
“My 2015/16 season started strong and I was positive for the year ahead, however I didn’t manage to carry on my great form from the Australian through to the rest of the season.”
” Going into the World Championships qualifiers I knew I had my work cut out so I prepared as fully as I could for it on the practice table. I went in to the qualifiers happy with my game and extremely positive. The opponent came off a good run from the China Open to beat me in the first round.”
“Obviously I was disappointed in falling off the tour. But I feel I gained valuable experience in my 2 years on the professional circuit which leads me in good stead for Q School. So no holiday for me its straight back on the practice table!!”
“Last year was a horrendous season for me the only small positive was that I nearly qualified for the crucible…”
“I felt really good going to play the World Championships, which I haven’t had that feeling for most of the season.. It was a massive help having my Dad back with me 6/7 days beforehand… I’m gutted I didn’t qualify but there were a few positives to take from that tournament…”
“I’m feeling pretty good and confident about next season I really hope I get Dad back on-board for as much of the season as possible… It obviously is a massive help aswell that I have Frames Academy behind me and all the people involved to help me, Nikki and Tony are great.. I’m hoping to make a strong positive start to the season”
Kurt’s Dad ‘Curt Maflin’ is also his coach and has been since he was small however due to illness he was unable to be with him for last season until the last week before the qualifiers so that has been a strain on the practice table for Kurt. Hopefully this season will see some very different results with his Dad back in action more.
We wish both Kurt and Mike the very best of luck for the new season.
